Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation

From our extensive experience in New build project installations of Renewable and Mechanical systems we have noticed that when a house meets the new building regs standard of an A3 it would benefit significantly from a full heat recovery system to ensure the house gets maximum comfort & fresh airflow in both summer and winter. The Greenhouse Team design, install, commission and certify Pro-air Heat recovery systems to the highest professional standard treating each project with the care and bespoke detail it requires.

Heat Recovery

What is Heat Recovery Ventilation?

A heat recovery system in essence supplies a house with fresh heated air. This fresh heated air is supplied into all the living rooms and bedrooms.

The “wet area’s”( kitchens, bathrooms & utility) have the damp stale air extracted from them. Here’s the clever bit, this stale but warm air is pulled from the house and it passes over the new fresh incoming air through a heat exchanger heating it back to room temperature before it is supplied back into your house.

The result, new warm air into the house, stale air extracted out of the house. The system will change the air in the house up to ten times a day.

Why Heat Recovery? The Benefits

1. Comfort

Comfort levels are superior in a house fitted with a Heat Recovery Ventilation system. Irrespective of weather conditions, draught free balanced ventilation is constant. It will change the air in the house up to 10 times a day keeping a house fresh and smell free.

2. Condensation Elimination

A heat recovery system works off humidity sensors meaning it will try to achieve a relative humidity of between 40 % - 60% which is optimum comfort compared with Irelands climate of 88%!! As a result there is no moisture condensation which causes rot, damp, condensation or mould growth not to mention health issues.

3. Health Benefits

A Heat Recovery system will fill your house with fresh air day and night. In Ireland people spend up to 80% of their day indoors and studies show 50% of illness are caused or aggravated by bad quality air. We feel this is something that will only increase in the new generation of “A Rated” homes being built without Heat Recovery Ventilation systems. Our Pro-air system will remove all the old stale and moist air from your home.

4. Smell Free

A Heat Recovery Ventilation system will extract the old moist air from your home meaning it will also extract any smells leaving you with a fresh smelling house.

5. Energy Efficient

A house that has a heat recovery system is a completely sealed building meaning very low heat loss. If you install a Heat recovery system in conjunction with our Underfloor heating and Air to Water Heatpump systems you will have the most energy efficient heating system supplying the highest levels of comfort.

6. Cooling

New Build houses suffer from overheating in the warmer months due to Solar Gain in windows, we have seen this to be a problem. Although a Heat Recovery System is not air conditioning it does have a nice feature called a “Summer Bypass” meaning it doesn’t heat the new fresh air entering the building. This usually means the Heat Recovery system will bring the internal House temperature down around 3 degrees or more in some cases. This can make a serious difference to comfort levels.
